SUN SURF is a Japanese heritage clothing brand, founded in the 1970s by Toyo Enterprise, that specialises in reproducing classic rayon Hawaiian (“Aloha”) shirts from the golden era of the 1930s to the 1950s. Drawing from a vast archive of vintage originals that the company has collected and studied, Sun Surf recreates the vivid prints, rich colours and traditional techniques of mid-century aloha shirts—often seen as wearable art—using methods such as discharge and over-printing to capture the character of the originals while being crafted in Japan.
