Sugar Cane
Sugar Cane is a Japanese denim and workwear‑inspired clothing brand launched in 1975 by Toyo Enterprises, originally growing out of the company’s production of garments for U.S. military bases in Japan. Renowned for its deep study and reproduction of vintage American workwear, the label became one of the first in Japan to make authentic selvedge denim — sometimes even blending cotton with sugar cane fibres — using traditional shuttle looms and classic dyeing techniques to create robust, characterful pieces with genuine heritage appeal.
